Have a great summer!

Kevin Robson - President PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:04

Kevin is in his fourth and final year of his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture here at the OAC. He is majoring in Crop Science, because what else do you need to know about animals other than how to cook them! He grew up on his small family-run cash crop operation in Middlesex County where they dabble in growing corn, soybeans, wheat, and of course Maple Syrup! For those of you lucky enough to witness his antics in the Aggie Lounge, you will likely describe him as the “Triple Threat.” This has led him down a career path dancing at fine establishments, but if you come out to pub ladies, don’t worry; the show is free! When Kevin is not busy busting his moves, he attempts to excel in school, this works sometimes. Kevin has thoroughly enjoyed his first three years at the OAC, and knows the fourth will be the best yet!   Looking forward to busting a move with all of you at Aggie Pub!!!

Jaclyn Pynenburg - VP Internal PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:00

Jaclyn is entering in her third year of Bachelor Science and Agriculture, with no real specific career goal in life, therefore is in the honours program to keep her options endless when entering the real world. However it seems as though her M-R-S degree will be complete before her actual education, this is due to her hard working on the farm, and delicious cooking, yummy baking and heartfelt touch - keep your hands off boys, because she’s taken! Jaclyn was born and raised in Princeton. No - not America, just a little hick town outside of Woodstock, the dairy capital in Ontario (the only good thing it is known for!) In her spare time, Jaclyn enjoys smiling at anything and everything as well as making inappropriate comments and having no idea what she just said. Look out for this crazy blonde at pub - she’ll be ripping up the dance floor!

Robyn Walsh - VP External PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:04

Robyn is currently a fourth year student in BSc. Agr Honours. Robyn hails from the most eastern province in Canada, Newfieland, where she was born and raised on her family’s dairy operation. (Yes! There is agriculture on the rock!!!) Upon graduation she hopes to continue her already lengthy education and get a Masters degree in Dairy Nutrition and then maybe join the real world! Before attending Guelph, Robyn completed a diploma in singing, acting and dancing in Toronto then decided she missed the country and applied to Guelph. In her spare time she’s usually teaching a dance class at the athletics center, providing counselling services to fellow aggies, or causing trouble on Cole Road. Robyn is proud to call herself an Aggie and be a part of the OAC community.

Eric Martin - Treasurer & B.Comm. Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:05

Eric is in his fourth year of Agricultural Business pursuing a minor in “dressing to impress.” Eric started as class treasurer for the Falcon Awesome class of 2012 in first year before moving to the SF job in his third year. Eric is also the current president of the Dairy Science Club. When he is not experimenting with new chocolate milk formulas or getting fitted for a new suit, Eric can be found wandering campus talking to people about anything businessy but really he is just trying to look busy. If he is actually working check Aggie pub (work hard, play hard it’s all about balance folks), or the Aggie lounge. Studies show he spends more time there than class or his own house. Eric has enjoyed three great years in the OAC and is more than happy to help keep things financially sound so SFOAC can continue to offer the same awesome experiences to students for years to come.

Holly McGill - Chairperson PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:06

Holly is a fourth year Animal Science student who hails from that strange land of the in between - suburbia. A horse girl (but the good kind, she promises), Holly was brought to the OAC by her desire to be a vet; which she realized probably wasn't a good idea when she threw up on the vet she was shadowing. Thankfully the OAC still had a place for a lost, knowledgeless city girl, and Holly is now quite happily studying what to feed those strange black and white creatures she sees around all the time - and wondering why she didn't decide to do this in the first place. While her parents joke she was switched at birth (there is some poor girl in rural Ontario yearning for the city, they insist), she still struggles with being able to differentiate wheat and barley fields from a distance and is often left wondering how some farmers can leave their corn in the field until December. However, Holly is learning quickly (she hopes) and has decided that the agricultural world is kind of stuck with her now. If you see her on campus (she's the short one in the 12s jacket - you'll recognize them since they're the best class in Guelph), stop by and say hi! No doubt she'll have a question for you.

Ashley Knapton - Communications Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:14

Ashley Knapton is in her third year of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Program  and she is an all around hard-working farm girl. She loves her black and white dairy "cews" but has begun to see the light by showing a beefer this year, cause meat is where it's at! She also enjoys the crop side of farming and works as a crop scout in her summers even though the growing season in the Great White East is, sadly, extremely short. For the past two years she has served as the Communications Director for the 2013 Razorbacks (yes, that's right, the year with the cool kids). She is also the Captain, Goalie (and hopes to one day be the top-goal scorer too) of the Aggie Ladies Hockey team. In her spare time she enjoys practising her ninja moves, impersonating hibernating bears, coming up with excuses to say "nbd" in regular conversation and yelling at people who pronounce the "K" in her name. If you see her at pub (which can be hard due to her being vertically challenged), buy her a beer and she'll be sure to love you forever!

Matt Groen - OAC Grad Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:10

Matt is currently working (procrastinating?) towards a Master's degree in dairy cattle nutrition.  He grew up on a pig farm near Brantford but learned at a young age that he wanted to work in a legend-dairy industry.  When not nerding out about cows, Matt can often be found hanging around with his partner in crime, Jeremy Parkinson.  Together they have been responsible for many of Matt's university accomplishments including his crowning achievement of undergrad: being named Miss Aggie 2011.  Matt was a graduate of the class of 2011 and hope to continue his class's spirit of enthusiasm through making sure that their class motto of "Long and Strong" is demonstrated in any place where Aggies may be.

Caleb Ringgenberg - OAC 2012 Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:09

Caleb is in his fourth year at Guelph in Ag Economics. He is an active member of many clubs and activities at the University trying to participate in as much as he can. The OAC has been a very big part of his four years at university and he is glad that he can finally give back to such an established and beneficial student run organization. After school Caleb hopes to move on, focusing on economics in agriculture striving to be as big of a deal as Eric Martin. Although he knows that this is virtually unattainable, he believes in striving for excellence.

Annemarie Van Wely - OAC 2013 Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 02 November 2009 08:16

Annemarie, aka Marie-Anne, is in her third year of a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, hoping to one day wander the fields daily and get paid for it! Quite different from the way she was raised on a dairy farm just outside of Woodstock, but hey, corn can’t kick back; plus working out in the field means driving the Fendt. Yes, she knows how to drive a tractor. She is known for being a “cheap” dutch(wo)man (although she doesn’t think she is) and for being out of the country for most holidays. In her spare time, which she seems to have a lot of, she comes up with extravagant costume ideas for pub (which for some reason take whole days to put together), sleeping the rest of her days away and staring out her living room window (yes, if you walk down Cole Road, you are sure to see her in a window).

Chris Budd - OAC 2014 Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:08

Chris is currently in his second year in the OAC pursuing a crop science major. He grew up on his family’s farm in Oxford County. Many years ago they had a dairy operation, which later extended into a swine operation as well. The farm then specialized in swine and cash crop. Recently the Budhaven Farms Ltd. consists of a cash crop operation and an agritourism business involving a country store, corn maze and a John Deere museum. Yes the museum contains only the best farm equipment made! Many can find Budd two stepping up a storm every Wednesday night and is easily picked out as the short guy with the John Deere hat. If ya wanna have a spin just ask gals. Except you won’t find Chris at Ms. Aggie Pub. No instead you will meet Ms. B Haven in her prime. Chris is very involved in several other clubs on and off campus and believes in not letting school get in the way of his education. Those words were among the first he heard from fellow aggies and hopes future aggies will live by that guidance as well.

Krista Boere - OAC 2015 Rep PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 17 November 2011 17:11

Krista is in her first year of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program currently with an undeclared major, but will most likely end up in the honours program taking as many swine related courses as possible. She grew up on a farrow to finish farm just outside of Parkhill (North Middlesex) and enjoys any conversation involving ‘shwine’ or anything free. It took Krista a couple more years then the average person to figure out what she wanted to do with her life but now she has all that in order life is great at Guelph living in the aggie cluster.   She enjoys all things aggie and has never missed a pub, where she is usually pretty easy to pick out due to her vertical advantage and BDE’s (Big Dutch Ears). On any given night of the week you can find Krista, commonly referred to as ‘mom’ or ‘Carla’ (due to her 5’oclock some where personality), enjoying a drink and singing a good’ol country tune with her fellow 2015 Bulls!

Rachel Weber - B.Sc. Agr. Rep & SRM Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:06

Rachel Weber is a fun-loving 4th year student in the Agricultural Economics program. Originating from the land of the Swiss folk, Rachel is fluent in both yodeling and a useless language that nobody understands. Entering the land of the awesome in 1996, Rachel moved to a dairy farm just outside St. Mary’s where she completed highschool and proceeded to make the best decision of her life – to attend the Ontario Agricultural College. Known for her exuberant smile and weird herbal teas, Rachel has been an attractive, delicious, long-legged treat to the 2012 Falcon class. With an extreme hard work ethic and ridiculous multi-tasking ability, this blue-eyed babe is definitely one to be sought after. Too bad she’s got a boyfriend – Nate is a truly lucky lad with a woman who loves to motorboat and falls asleep 5 minutes after any movie starts. But Rachel is not the type to have just one boy in her life, with new little Brucie as her 4-legged companion. Bruce enjoys long walks with Rachel through the beauteous scenery Cole Road has to offer, as well as the occasional shower if the door is left open. If you happen to see this wild brunette at some sort of Aggie event, poke her…. I dare you.

Stephanie Payne - LASS Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:11

As a result of growing up in Toronto (where trees are outlawed) Stephanie Payne developed a deep sense of longing for all things arboreal. She encountered her first tree in her adolescence, when her parents decided to uproot her to Grey County. Since then, she has not only embraced nature in the figurative sense, she literally hugs trees on a regular basis. She spends her free time reading books about native plants and struggling to understand computers. She can often be found in the arboretum picnicking with her best friend Woody (A Douglas Fir).

Danny Jefferies - ESSE Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:12

Danny is in his fourth year of the Environmental Science program of the OAC. He is majoring in Earth and Atmospheric Science, where he is beginning to focus his course selection to Soil Science.  Danny was born in London Ontario, but raised in the town of Ilderton. Ilderton surprisingly has two variety stores, two restaurants and even an arena for its very small population. Danny enjoys any type of pickup but especially when it comes to playing hockey. On Sundays do not talk to Danny unless you’re talking football. Danny frequently enjoys the cottage life and waterskiing while weather permits.

Brandon Guild - Food Science Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:13

Brandon Guild is a sub-urban refugee who seeks to find comfort in the quiet farm country of Ontario’s Green Belt. Entering his third year of Food Science at the University of Guelph, Brandon enjoys learning about the scientific manipulation of various agricultural products into the modern food miracles we purchase at the grocery store. In his spare time, Brandon enjoys partaking in various means of human transportation around Guelph in addition to creating his own culinary miracles in the domestic lab we know as the kitchen. He approaches music with similar inquisitiveness on the saxophone or guitar. He hopes that this year his new position on the SFOAC allows him to get better acquainted with the many other friendly agriculturally minded people here at the University of Guelph.

Laura Snell - BBRM Rep PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 12 September 2008 12:36

Laura is in her third year of her Bachelor of Bio-Resource Management Degree (B.B.R.M.). She is majoring in Equine studies because she loves both business and horses. She grew up on a 100 acre cash crop farm with a flock of pure bred Border Leicester sheep in Huron County. Riding sheep was her favorite past time until she got two horses of her own. Yes, you can ride sheep and she strongly encourages you to try it! Laura loves soccer, volleyball and hockey. Her boyfriend is Sidney Crosby for anyone who didn’t know. It's OK, you're allowed to be jealous. She was also key in helping Sid the Kid recover back to tip-top form. Opon graduation she hopes to continue her family farm and contribute to the family businesses of wedding rentals and carpentry. This aspiration would mainly be because of the awesome party van that comes with it. She is a proud farm girl very and proud to call herself an Aggie.

Erin Wynands - Animal Biology Rep PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 September 2008 09:13

Erin is in her third year of animal biology.  She enjoys College Royal, going to pub and watching factually accurate movies.  She is from a dairy farm in Eastern Ontario; living proof not all animal biology students are horse people. A proud Razorback, Erin initially made the decision to attend the University of Guelph because it was where the car was going. You can recognize her on campus by her purposeful stride, even when she has nowhere to go. If you stop her to chat she will likely talk about milking cows on a merry-go-round and the international space station (it’s in lower Earth orbit people!). When she grows up she hopes to work in the agriculture industry, and if that doesn’t pan out she’ll likely be a model.
