Photo credit: Graham Taylor, LABash08 More than 800 students from universities across North America explored Frontiers
of Landscape Architecture at the LABash08 conference hosted by the University
of Guelph, February 21 to 24. The annual conference, initiated by three U of G
students in 1970, continues to be entirely student-run; 2008 marks its fifth return to
its roots in OACs Landscape Architecture program.
LABash has grown to become an international gathering for landscape architecture
students, faculty and professionals to learn from, and about, one another.
This years lectures and workshops explored different frontiers of the profession,
technologies and the environment, with topics ranging from re-greening cities,
green roof design and making the most of garbage, to designing the landscape of
Nunavut, and a Google Earth walk through North America.
